How do I get a "Satisfaction of Judgment" after I've paid the judgment?
When a judgment or decree is satisfied, the judgment creditor should immediately file an acknowledgment of satisfaction. These forms are available in our office or can be found here. The satisfaction may be entered by the judgment creditor, his attorney of record, or his agent (if an agent, his authority shall be filed).
If a judgment creditor has received satisfaction of a judgment and fails to acknowledge such satisfaction, any interested person may apply to the court where the judgment was entered for an order showing satisfaction.
I paid my judgment, why is it still showing on my credit?
The Credit Bureau gets judgment information from the State Courts website. When you have paid the judgment, it is up to the person you have paid to file a satisfaction with our office. We do not report information to the Credit Bureau, so it will be up to the Credit Bureau to update your information. The judgment will still be on your credit report, but it will show satisfied.
